Sunday Wo-mance

If there is anything that renews my spirit, refreshes my soul and reminds me of all that is good in my world, it has to be my gals.  Not to be mistaken for my girls, Abi and Cydney, my gals are a core group of friends that all belong to the whine and wines.  Although there are others in our group, my gals are the ones that have been around through many incarnations, additions, and deletions.   I love these women.  I love their spirit, their humor, their unconditional love for each other.  I love that we can come together, share a glass (or three) of champagne, laugh til we have tears streaming down our cheeks, (and in Katie’s case, laughing so hard she snorts), and accepting each other for who we all are.  Each woman so beautiful.  Each woman so smart.  Each woman so different yet so much alike.  And so it was this morning when we gathered at the Oyster Bar for Champagne Sunday Brunch.   Wo-mancing each other for over 20 years, I love my gals!

Sunday Brunch

Standing left to right: Katie, the nurturer who loves unconditionally.  Mina, the comedienne that keeps us all laughing.  Julie, the brain with a subtle quick wit.  Sitting: Me (puffy from three glasses of champagne).  Meredith, like a sister, we have known each other for over 40 years.  Debbie, the teacher who is genuinely interested in each person she meets.   It’s a privilege to know such wonderful women.

Hello Again

What the hey?  It’s always nice to find that you have friends in the blogging world that miss you when you are gone.  I have had texts and emails and phone calls asking when I was going to post.  So here we go …

First off, I must tell you why the break.  It has to do with my last few posts.  They were mean!  Yes, I am ashamed to have posted about people that I have never met but that struck a (silly) chord with me.  Rude. Cruel. Down right not nice!  I needed to re-group.  To think about why I blog and what it means.  I know what you are thinking, “Just delete the posts”.  Nope, I won’t be deleting because they will serve to remind me that I went down that path once and it didn’t make me very happy.  No more I say.  No more!

So I ask for your forgiveness and hope that you will continue to visit me every now and then… and please visit my other site:  for updates on whats cooking in my kitchen and in my soul.

We’ve all had those days.  You know … I’m so hungry I could eat  horse.
I would like to go on record as saying that I will never be so hungry that eating
at this place will sound like a great idea …

Work that Jaw

The worst part of having a big window on my office door is that there is absolutely NO privacy what-so-ever-never.  Most times it’s not so bad.  I get to gaze at all the comings and goings.  But on days like today when all I want to do is stuff my mouth full of delightful bits of organic, lactose and gluten-free granola … well, it’s a problem.
Granola, known for it’s clustered goodness is a great right-from-the-bag snack.  Unless there are no clusters which leaves one to simply reach in, extract a fist full of tiny bits’o delish and quickly deposit them into a wide open and waiting mouth … spilling about 1/3 of said fists content in the process.  I keep looking down and finding sunflower and pumpkin seeds adorning my shirt and bits of oat lying in wait on my lap.  To passersby I probably look like one of those ape mothers: picking up bits from various parts of my person and stuffing them into my mouth.  I’m figuring that whatever lands on me is still technically ok to eat since it hasn’t hit the floor, right?
and what is it about the window that makes me chew so much faster?  Seriously, my jaw is really getting sore here.
Hey, speaking of Organic, Lactose and Gluten free (we were, weren’t we?) … It’s going ok.  Lots of adjustments.  Lots of new tastes.  LOTS MORE EXPENSIVE.  It’s hard to think that this is the way my life is now… for the rest of my life … woooweeee!

Spring Grilling

In my book, there is nothing better than the first grilled burgers of the season …
          Especially when …
the burger is loaded with crumbled bleu cheese and plenty of finely chopped purple onions …
 grilled to perfection …
then Topped with lettuce, tomato, mustard and creamy bleu cheese sauce
and served on a home made bun!
     Yeah for Spring Grilling!
The buns?  Easy as 1 – 2 – 3 …
    gather your ingreds:
MIX >>> KNEAD >>> RISE >>>
and now I suppose you want to see the whole finished product ready for eatin’ … well, here’s the problem:
                                           I’m not a food photographer!
Did I fail to mention that it’s always wise to have a batch of OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES baking while the buns are busy rising …
Whilst the cookies sun themselves at 375*, it’s always a good time to dye the kidlets hair …
Looking mighty fine Miss Cyd … Let’s check in with Abi and Sky …
